We know wedding dress shopping is A Big Deal. Some brides are really excited and they skip through the doors, but most are nervous. These lovely creatures tiptoe in mumbling something about having no idea what they want and apologising that they probably won’t fit in anything. We want strutting, not tiptoeing, so we’re going to do all we can to banish those nerves! The next instalment of our #LoveBLOOMS campaign will tell you what to expect from your Rock the Frock appointment. So our brides can arrive knowing they’re about to have the most fun ever!
When you book your appointment, we recommend you have a look at our website. ALL our dresses are on there – you can filter by boutique, price range and designer to make sure you see the pieces tailored for your wedding! It is so helpful to have an idea of the gowns you would like to try before you arrive.
A day or two before your appointment, we will call you to have a chat about your wedding. We love knowing about venues, themes and any preferred styling. Not only does it help us get to know you bridal babes, it helps us find your perfect dress!
When you and your shopping posse arrive, your bridal stylist will get acquainted and have another chat about your wedding (we LOVE it). At this point we will also ask how much you would like to spend. We don’t do the hard sell at Rock the Frock – weddings are freaking expensive – all our dresses are priced and we will steer you away from any that could break the bank!
Your stylist will get everyone settled with refreshments, and then the fun begins! We show you around the boutique and talk you through our pieces. There will be plenty of time to browse, but if you feel overwhelmed we are more than happy to help you pick out styles that will suit you and your wedding. There’s no limit to how many dresses you choose, but we recommend five.
Now it’s time to try on! We will help you in and out of the dresses (brides love this bit! Turns out having a chamber maid would have been pretty sweet...). If the sample isn’t your size – please don’t worry! It’s impossible to have samples to fit everybody, but our stylists are brilliant at pulling and pinning so you can TOTALLY see what the gown will look like. So many brides worry about this part that we are going to do a whole blog post dedicated to sample sizes, so keep your eyes peeled!
Once you’re in and pinned, it’s our favourite part, the big reveal! We bloody love swishing that curtain open and seeing your friends and family’s doe eyes. And if you don’t want to show them, that’s okay too! If you try on a shape and think NAH, it can be whipped off and then it’s on to the next one! Dress shopping is all about experimenting – try styles you wouldn’t usually wear, you never know what you might discover.
